Indran Amirthanayagam (www.indranmx.com) es poeta, músico y diplomatico estadounidense. Es bachiller en Literatura Inglesa de Haverford College y tiene una maestría en periodismo de la Universidad de Columbia. Es poeta, ensayista y blogger en inglés, español, francés, portugués y creole haitiano (http://indranamirthanayagam.blogspot.com). Ha publicado 17 colecciones de poesía, incluyendo Il n’est de solitude que l’ile lointaine (Legs Editions, Haiti, 2017), The Elephants of Reckoning (Hanging Loose Press, NY, 1993) que ganó el Premio Paterson 1994 en los Estados Unidos, Uncivil War (Tsar/Mawenzi House, Canada, 2013), Sin adorno: lírica para tiempos neobarrocos (Universidad Auntonoma de Nuevo Leon, 2013)  Ventana azul ( El Tapiz del Unicornio, México, 2016)  Coconuts on Mars, Paperwall Publishers, Mumbai, 2019 (www.paperwall.in), y las novedades: En busca de posada (Apogeo, Lima, 2019), Paolo 9 (Manofalsa, Lima, 2019), y The Migrant States (Hanging Loose Press, NY, 2020). Su ahora legendario primer poemario escrito en español, El infierno de los pájaros, fue prologado por José Emilio Pacheco y ilustrado por José Luis Cuevas. Carlos Monsivais lo presentó en la Casa del Poeta una tarde de la primavera de 2001. Su poemario mas reciente, Pwezi a Kat Men, es un diálogo poético entre Amirthanayagam y el poeta Haitiano Alex LaGuerre (Delince Editions, EEUU, 2017).

En música, ha producido el disco Rankont Dout (enero, 2018), una colaboracion con diversos musicos Haitianos. Ha publicado artículos y ensayos en The New York Times, The Hidu, Reforma, El Norte, The Indian Express, The Deccan Chronicle, The Daily News (Sri Lanka), The Island (Sri Lanka), entre otros periódicos. Sus poemas y traducciones han sido publicados en El Mal Pensante (Colombia), La Otra Iglesia es Imposible (Argentina), El Norte (Mexico), y The Kenyon Review (Estados Unidos), entre otras revistas y periodicos. Se los encuentran en las antologías ALOUD: Voices from the Nuyorican Poets Café, The Open Boat: Poems from Asian America, Language for a New Century, Reversible Monuments:Contemporary Mexican Poetry, Living in America, The Poetry of Roses, Only the Sea Keeps: Poetry of the Tsunami, entre otros. Amirthanayagam ha sido invitado a festivales de poesía internacional en diversos paises. Ha co-editado publicaciones especiales o algunas secciones de las revistas BOMB y The Portable Lower East Side.  Ha dirigido talleres de poesía en los Estados Unidos, México, Haiti,  y Argentina. Amirthanayagam es un director de DC-ALT, una asociacion de traductores literarios, anfitrion de un recital mensual de poesia en Port Au Prince, un restaurante haitiano en Silver Spring, MD   Es un editor de The Beltway Poetry Quarterly. His most recent poems, Pwezi to Kat Men, is a poetic dialogue between Amirthanayagam and the Haitian poet Alex LaGuerre (Delince Editions, USA, 2017).

He has received grants from the Foundation for the Contemporary Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts, the U.S / Mexico Fund for Culture, and the Macdowell Colony. He won the Floral Games of Guayamas, Sonora in 2006 for his poem Juarez.
